When it comes to building a website, Wix is better than Hostinger. It provides more features, better ecommerce options, and added help and support tools, making it the best overall website builder for most users.
However, Hostinger is easily one of the most affordable options on the market, particularly with this special deal, providing a cheap, stripped-down website builder that is perfect for beginners and budget-conscious businesses. Still, at only $16 per month (or $14.10 per month with our special deal), Wix is a great value for all that functionality.
In this guide, we’ll compare Hostinger and Wix on features, pricing, ease of use, ecommerce functionality, and help and support, so you can fully understand how these two website builders match up against each other. And if you need a bit more help making a decision, take our website builder quiz to get tailored recommendations based on your business needs.

Hostinger vs Wix: Head to Head
To be clear, Wix and Hostinger are two very different types of website builders. Wix is a more robust, complete option that can scale with your business and tackle a wide range of website builder needs, while Hostinger, on the other hand, is aimed at beginners with a simple interface and low prices. Here are a few basics about how these two website builders match up:
- Wix has more features than Hostinger
- Hostinger is more affordable than Wix
- Wix is better for ecommerce businesses than Hostinger
- Hostinger has better uptime and server response than Wix
- Wix offers better help and support than Hostinger
To get a better understanding of what these two website builders bring to the table, check out the brief overviews below and don’t forget to check out our Wix review and our Hostinger review for more information.
Hostinger Overview
Right out of the gate, the best thing Hostinger, formerly known as Zyro, has going for it is affordability. With one of the lowest starting price in our research — as long as you take advantage of their frequently discounts — it provides virtually no barrier to usage for lower-budget businesses.
Still, this affordability obviously comes at a cost. While Hostinger is cheap, it doesn’t offer a lot of the features you need to effectively run a business website, particularly when compared to Wix. Hostinger certainly covers all the bases with its basic website building features and throws in a little extra with fun additions like the heatmap, logo maker, and AI writer.
Hostinger makes up for this lack of advanced features with some serious ease of use. The drag-and-drop editor makes designing your site extra simple, and it even has a few good-looking templates to get you started. Plus, because Hostinger is a web hosting provider first and a website builder second, it offers excellent hosting features, as well as better uptime and server response than Wix.
Overall, Hostinger is a great option for beginners that don’t need or want a lot of advanced features and want the price cut to go with it.
Pros
- Very affordable platform
- Easy to use with simple grid layout
- Advanced features like heatmap and logo maker
- DEAL: $2.69/month with the code TECH
Cons
- No app store
- Limited marketing features
- Little onboarding help at setup
Wix Overview
If we’ve said it once, we’ll say it again: you can’t beat Wix. As our top-rated website builder, Wix provides it all: lots of features, robust help and support options, ecommerce capabilities, and advanced functionality like CRM. Plus with all of that coming at you starting at $16 per month, it’s easy to see why Wix is at the top of our list.
Its SEO features is where Wix really shines, though. The platform’s revised settings allow businesses to control their SEO data from a single dashboard, making the tool more capable of improving search results. This, in addition to Wix’s new integration with Semrush, helps the provider edge out other builders in this field.
While Wix may not have the best templates on the market, an honor that goes to Squarespace, it offers hundreds of excellent options that can help you build out your website. Plus, they are always adding more, so you’ll definitely find something that fits your business needs.
Pros
- Friendly onboarding experience
- Advanced business functionality like AI and CRM
- A top choice for ecommerce solutions
- DEAL: Get 10% off with GET10! at checkout
Cons
- Can't change site design after publishing
- Slower server response time than some competitors
Best Value: Hostinger
This one was extremely close, because as we mentioned, Wix and Hostinger are very different website builders. Hostinger offers its website builder at a literal fraction of the cost of Wix, but the feature offerings and scalability are substantially lacking.
Still, our research found that Hostinger scored a 3.7/5 for value, while Wix scored a slightly worse 3.6/5 for value in our research. This is largely due to a recent price increase from Wix, which took the starting price for $14 per month to $16 per month while not adding many features. As a result, Wix took a hit on value, while Hostinger maintained its low prices.
It’s worth noting, however, that if you have any plans to grow your site beyond a basic information page, Wix is absolutely going to be your best bet. The larger investment is more than worth it to unlock the wide range of advanced features that will allow you to sell products, attract new customers, and generally build a website that you can be proud of.
Hostinger Pricing
Hostinger offers only one pricing plan, which costs only $2.99 per month with a special deal. This also comes with three months free, which can save you a lot when you’re just starting out. Hostinger also comes with free web hosting, so you can get your site live for just a few bucks.
On top of all that, Hostinger offers a 30-day money back guarantee, so if you don’t want your few bucks back, you won’t have trouble saving yourself the money.

Wix Pricing
Because Wix provides more advanced features, the pricing situation is a bit more complex as well. Wix offers four Website plans — Combo, Unlimited, Pro, and VIP — and three Business plans — Basic, Unlimited, and VIP.
The Light plan, starting at $16 per month, is aimed at businesses trying to create a website that showcases what they do. While it isn’t equipped with ecommerce tools, they can help you create a great website with stunning templates and plenty of features to track your traffic.
The Core, Business, and Business Elite plans, starting at $27 per month, $32 per month, and $159 per month, are likely what you’re looking for though. These plans are aimed at selling (unlimited) products, offering tools like customer accounts, abandoned cart recovery, and even drop shipping the more expensive plans. You’ll also be able to sell on social channels as well, which can seriously add some revenue power to your business.
Check out the specific pricing of each plan below:

Hostinger vs Wix: Which has the best free plan?
Neither Wix nor Hostinger offers a free plan, although Hostinger offers a 30-day money back guarantee, while Wix offers a 14-day free trial. Wix used to offer a robust free plan, but it has recently changed its pricing model and gotten rid of it.
Best for Features: Wix
The number of features available for a website builder can make a big difference. And honestly, the massive feature list is what sets Wix apart from every website builder, which means that it’s definitely better than Hostinger when it comes to this all-important category.
Our research found that Wix scored the highest of all website builders when it comes to features, netting a score of 4.8/5 in the category. By comparison, Hostinger scored one of the lowest in the category at 2.7/5, further illustrating why Wix is the go-to option for businesses.
From the standard website builder features that make getting started and onboarded as easily as possible to the advanced business features like email and social marketing options, you can do a lot with Wix. The popular website builder even offers CRM functionality that can help you attract and retain customers, Wix offers the most features of any website builder we’ve researched.
Even better, Wix is always improving its feature offerings. In our latest round of research, Wix added a bounty of SEO improvements, including the ability to update keywords and of course the integration with Semrush.
Since our last update...
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last year, you’ve likely heard about all the AI advancements coming to business software, and Wix is not getting left behind here. The popular website builder is making it even easier to build a website, thanks to ChatGPT-like tools that rolled out to Wix users earlier this year.
Announced in July, the Wix feature will allow you to build a fully operational website by simply answering a few questions. The AI prompts will ask things like “do you need an About Us page,” or “are you selling products online,” to build the website for you, so you don’t need to be technically proficient to get your site live.

Best for Ease of Use: Wix
This one was actually very close. Hostinger and Wix both offer some delightful intuitive interfaces that shouldn’t be too difficult to handle. They both offer simple, drag-and-drop functionality for web design, so you can easily handle the templates, and you won’t be too bogged down by the advanced features no matter how experienced you are.
In our research, we did score Wix higher (4.4/5) on ease of use than Hostinger (3.9/5), because it makes the advanced features that much easier. Obviously Hostinger is easy to use, because it’s a stripped-down version of a website builder at a lower price. But Wix takes on the more complex aspects of website building and still makes it easy enough for you to figure it out. Plus, with good help and support, you’ll be able to get help if you need it.

Best for Ecommerce: Wix
This one is a no brainer. While Hostinger does offer some ecommerce features, the reality is that Wix just brings the power when it comes to ecommerce. Between the ability to sell unlimited products and the advanced features like CRM functionality, Wix just takes the cake on ecommerce from top to bottom.
Hostinger is no slouch when it comes to ecommerce though, particularly for the price. You’ll be able to sell up to 500 products and get features like inventory management and the ability to accept 20 different forms of payment. Still, we have to give Wix the edge here, simply based on the sheer volume of ecommerce features available.
Best for Help & Support: Wix
Again, as our top-rated website builder, Wix gets the victory when it comes to help and support, and we can mostly chalk that up to being a more established company. The popular website builder provides 24/7 support to all customers in paid plans. Additionally, this support is top-tier stuff, providing expert advice quickly and effectively, all on top of a knowledge center that is very impressive. Even better, you can get priority support for higher paid plans, skipping the lines and getting help immediately when you need it.
Wix help center
Image: Wix
Hostinger also provides 24/7 support, but it’s just not as robust as the options provided by Wix. You’ll only get access to email and live chat with Hostinger, and the knowledge center is expansive but not nearly as helpful as Wix. It’s worth noting that Wix is second only to Squarespace when it comes to support, so don’t count Hostinger out just because it loses to the best of the best.
Subsequently, Wix was able to secure a score of 4.9/5 for help and support, the highest available in our research, while Hostinger only netted a score of 3/5, which is why we give Wix the edge here.
How to Switch Website Builders
If you’re unhappy with your current website builder and looking at either Wix or Hostinger as a new provider, we don’t blame you. These two solutions, while very different, are excellent choices, particularly if you’re looking for more affordability (Hostinger) or scalability (Wix) for your business.
However, it’s important to note that there are some key steps to take when it comes to switching website builders. After all, you likely won’t be able to simply copy it over to a new provider, and you don’t to lose access to all your company data and content when you cancel your original subscription.
You’ll want to make an outline of your current website, noting down every page and sub-page to keep track of the basic layout. Next, make sure you save all the images on your current site that you want on your new site. Once you’ve backed up all your data, you can safely cancel your subscription and set up a subscription with your new website builder of choice.
It’s worth noting that switching to a new website builder isn’t easy. If you’re experiencing minor issues with your current website builder, it’s worth doing some digging to find out if you can solve the problem before moving on. Additionally, make sure a higher pricing tier won’t solve your problem, as more expensive plans often house additional features, like ecommerce functionality and SEO help. All that to say, upgrading will be infinitely easier than trying to launch a brand-new site on another website builder.
If you need help finding a provider that fits your particular business needs, our customized website builder quiz can provide you with three tailored recommendations based on your answers.
Other Website Builder Alternatives
While Wix is our top-rated website builder, and Hostinger is our most popular option for beginners, they’re not the only website builders out there, like Wix’s design-focused platform Editor X. In fact, the market is filled with some of the best website builders out there depending on your needs, you just have to find the right one.
We’ve done tons of in-depth research to bring you all the information you need to make an informed decision about website builders. Take a look at the table below for a snapshot of your options and read on for more specifics about our top picks.

Squarespace
If you’re looking for a well-designed website, your best bet is going to be Squarespace. It undeniably offers the most beautiful templates that will take your website from drab to fab in no time flat.
Squarespace is nothing to scoff at when it comes to website builders either. In our scoring, it almost exactly matched Wix, with a wide range of features that are relatively easy to use. You’ll also get some great social and email marketing features, along with the built-in capability to scale up the platform along with your business.
Check out our Squarespace pricing guide for more info
Pros
- Email and social marketing tools
- Best knowledge center available
- Robust analytics features
- Native SEO keyword support
- DEAL: Get Shopify for $1 per month for 3 months
Cons
- Slower site speed
- No advanced customization options
GoDaddy
Whether you’ve seen the commercials or just want an easy to build website, GoDaddy is a solid option if none of the others pique your interest. You’ll get all the basic features you need to get a website online at a reasonable price, which is always an attractive offer. Plus, it had one of the quickest website building experiences in our research, which can be very helpful for beginners.
GoDaddy is definitely not perfect though. Its limited customization can be a drag on more design-focused companies, and while it provides SEO guidance, the features are pretty basic overall. Still, if you want to get a website up and running as fast as possible, GoDaddy is your go-to website builder.
Check out our GoDaddy review for more info
Pros
- Quick, efficient website building
- "SEO Wizard" tool is super useful for beginners
- Plenty of must-have features built-in
Cons
- Limited customization options
- Website design is quite restrictive
- Basic SEO features
Verdict: Which website builder is better?
Wix is our top-rated website builder, so it’s definitely better than Hostinger, due to its massive feature catalog, its affordable plans, and its robust help and support options provided to all users. Simply put, Wix provides the power and functionality you need to run any type of business from the online world.
Hostinger is still a great option for beginners and budget-conscious businesses though, particularly with the super affordable prices, as it offers an easy-to-use interface that is stripped back for first timers.
